Owning a dog is subject to a fee and the proven attendance of a dog training course is stipulated. The dog licence is used for the necessary infrastructure of the town of Amriswil. For the first dog, it costs 80 francs per year and for each further day in the same household 130 francs. Eastern Switzerland Police School
Since 2006, the Eastern Switzerland Police School has trained around one hundred policemen and women every year. The school is funded by the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Grisons, St. Gallen, Schaffhausen, Thurgau, Liechtenstein national police and the cities of Chur and St. Gallen.
